Hi,

I noticed some members have problems in determining their home facing direction, I would like to give you some tips on how to measure the correct directions. It is vital to know the exact directions prior to implementing any cures or placing any remedies, especially for flying star applications.

First of all, here’s a picture of a not too expensive compass as a basic tool. Here’s the link:
Image

Once you got this instrument or something similar, I suggest you do the following to take measurement of your house/apartment facing, bearing in mind that it is not easy even for the FS masters to determine your facing if your housing is of irregular shape. But as a general guide and reference, you can use the door facing the road, or your main door entrance in a house, or your main building entrance if you’re located below 9 floors, or the “yangest” (that gives a lot of yang energy) side of your dwelling, or your balcony if above 9th floor of a building.

Whichever of the above you’ve chosen as your reference point:
Stand about 3 meters (about 9 ft.) away from your main entrance or building, use the compass and take a reading away from cars, electric lamp posts, or any metallic devises which will influence the compass reading. Do it twice to make sure you have the same reading both times.

If readings differ, then stand at one corner of your building/house and follow the steps mentioned above. When this is done, turn 90 degrees to your left or right and take the measurement again. The difference between these two readings should be 90 degrees, if not, you'd have a problem

Hope the above helps

Dear Master, Mods,

Hope this is the right place for my questions.

To determine the facing of my house, do I have to stand at the gate or the main door of house ?
Do you include the front porch, side garden & backyard when determining the centre of house ?

Thanks In Advance,
Jencsh

Dear Jencsh,

Good to see you here :) Either one will do, just make sure that you are free from cars, electric lamp posts, any metallic devises which will influence the compass reading, or any potential magnetic fields. Do it twice to make sure you have the same reading both times.

Once you have the accurate compass reading, the house will be the focus... the front porch, garage, backyard, and other attachments to the house will automatically be included as the extensions to the house. I hope I've answered your questions :)

With love and blessings :)

I would also like to ask a question about this.
IF i'm doing a compass reading and I'm doing it from the outside of the house do I face the front door?
:D

The facing of your house is like your face, the main door like your mouth  If you're taking the facing degree of your house, you should stand with your back to the house :)

Hi Phoenix188,

My 16 years old condo unit is located on the 3rd floor. The main door is located in the NE sector but facing East and a few flights of stairs to the carpark.
The main balcony is located in NW facing NW and is 3levels from the ground. The condo layout is of irregular shape, comprising of 2 blocks of condo buildings, pool, playground and tennis court.

1. Which do I consider my home's facing direction? The main door facing, front balcony or the main entrance (in between of the 2 blocks of condo buildings) beside guard house?
2. As per Katarina ( http://www.freewebs.com/dhealingbh/apps ... how/327421 ) and some Feng Shui practitioners, an accurate compass degree facing of the entrance door taken from inside looking out, what is your opinion?
It is impossible for me to do it 3meters from my main entrance as there my neighbour shares the same area (that is less than 8feet). Just for your information, to access the carpark, is a flight of stairs. To take a reading, it would be more appropriate to take from inside my home looking out.
3. Which should I consider as my house sitting direction?

I would be most grateful for your kind response and do have a nice day.

Dear sue3008,

It would be good to see the location of your condo vis-à-vis the 2 blocks of condo buildings, pool, playground and tennis court, if possible, also indicate the roads around the condo. Please see my comments below for your other questions :)

With love and blessings :)

I don't agree with this kind of compass reading because inside a house or apartment, the reading can greatly be influenced by possible electromagnetic waves or other elements thus rendering the reading inaccurate.

Is it not possible for you to take the compass reading below your condo on the ground floor?
3. Which should I consider as my house sitting direction? When we know the facing of your condo, we will know the sitting direction of your house.
I would be most grateful for your kind response and do have a nice day.

Just to get opinions, how should we decide which facing direction (ming tang) to use for age 8 flying star of a 38th level condo unit?
option 1 = ground lobby entrance facing the road, NE
option 2 = window of condo unit, facing E (only available window).

Are there such things as simple answers? ;)

Hi there,

Long time no hear :D

No sir, there's no straight-forward answer  For the condo, the facing is determined by the side that receives the most yang energy, so it can be where the windows are located or where there is a balcony. The ground lobby entrance, if you used it daily, you have to take that into consideration because this is where you walk in the good or bad energy to your condo.

Is this a simple answer?

With love and blessings :)
